Beautiful blooms will add a splash of colour to your big day, whether it be the bouquet, buttonholes or venue decorations.

Before you start deciding what flowers you want to incorporate think about whether you already have a colour theme or style in mind, as you will want everthing to be together. This may rule out some flowers if they do not come in the appropriate colour or style.
Bouquet
Next think about your dress, if you have a very detailed one, you may find an intricate bouquet with lots going on in it will be fighting the dress, whereas a simple bunch of lilies tied together at their stems may work better. If your dress is very plain then the bouquet could be more extravagant adding more interest.
Take Professional Advice
Don't worry if you are really not sure where to start, a professional florist will be full of ideas and suggestions. Take picutres of styles and looks you like and then you can work together to find the perfect combination for you.
Think budget, you don't want to set your heart on some beautiful yet extravagant blooms and then realise they are out of your price range. Florists will also be able to advise you as to which flowers are in season to suit your big day. Although most flowers can be ordered all year round they may be more expensive or not looking their best if you pick ones out of season.
There are a variety of shapes you can choose for your bouquet, a spray (triangular formation), a nosegay (neat round shape), a cascade (drop shaped bunch) or a pomander (ball-shaped bunch carried hanging from a ribbon)
Your bride's bouquet will be the most eleborate with the bridesmaids being smaller versions of the same theme. You may also want to think about baskets of petals if you having flowergirls.
Buttonholes
You will need these for the groom, best man, ushers, fathers and also consider corsages for the mothers. Usually you will pick one flower from the bouquet so you all match. If your budget runs to it, proviidng themed buttonholes for all your guests is a nice touch.
Venue
Think aobut where flowers will add a special touch, on the end of the pews at a church, as table centrepieces, on stands at the corners of the rooms, on the table where you sign your vows. If possible take your florist to the venue so they can advise on size and placements of displays. You can cut costs when having two venues by using the flowers from your ceremony at the reception, just bear in mind how you will transport them between the two.
Do It Yourself
There is alwys the oiption to create your own displays these will need to be put together just before the wedding to keep them looking pristine, so is that something you would prefer to leave to a professional so close to the big day?
